Voice input on phones has been solved for years. What has not been solved is the output. Speak into most dictation tools and you get back exactly what you said, fillers and false starts included, in a note you then have to clean up and move somewhere else. SpeakON attacks that gap with hardware: a 25 g magnetic button that snaps to the back of an iPhone, carries its own microphone, and writes finished text straight into whatever app is already open. The Positioning: a Communicator, not a Dictation App SpeakON calls the category an AI Communicator, and takes its framing from the Communicator in Star Trek: you should not need to be at a terminal to stay connected. The target user is a founder, manager, consultant or field professional who is not short on ideas but is short on the time to stop, unlock a phone, switch apps and type. The Hardware The SpeakON device measures 58 x 58 x 6 mm and weighs 25 g. A 220 mAh cell is rated for 10 or more hours of continuous use and more than 2 weeks of standby, charging in under 1.5 hours over USB-C. It carries 128 MB of onboard storage, a stated capture range of roughly 60 cm, and supports up to 5 minutes of continuous input per press. The box includes a USB-C cable and a magnetic ring for iPhones without MagSafe. The architectural decision that separates it from an app is the microphone.
